OUR SOLUTIONS · PRECISION SHEET METAL

Your sheet metal parts,
cut, bent, assembled

Laser, punching, bending and assembly — in thin sheet as in thick plate, from prototype to series. A single point of contact, a network of workshops sourced and controlled in France, with no tooling to finance.

YOUR CHALLENGE

From the thin enclosure to the thick frame, every sheet has its rules

Thin sheet hinges on aesthetics, edges and flatness; thick plate on cutting, bending tonnage and distortion. The right process and the right workshop change the price and the lead time. CadNov steers and pilots.

No tooling

Cutting + bending: no tool to finance, ideal from prototype to series.

The right process

Fiber laser, punch or plasma depending on thickness.

Finished assembly

Welded/screwed assembly, insertion, coordinated finishing.

One contact

A project manager, from the blank to the finished part.

OUR EXPERTISE

Integrator: the right workshop for the right thickness

CadNov is not an in-house sheet-metal shop — we are your integrator: we steer your part to the workshop equipped for your thickness and series, coordinate assembly and treatments, and inspect in France.

  • Sheet-metal design advice (radii, flat pattern, accessibility)
  • Workshop sourcing: fiber laser, precision and large-capacity press brakes
  • Welded, screwed, riveted assembly, self-clinching nut insertion
  • Coordination of finishes (paint, galvanizing, anodizing…)
  • Material optimization (nesting) and cost
  • Receiving inspection in France, traceability, reports
Large series with a tool? See Stamping. Heavy welded and machined structures? See Welded assembly. Sheet metal work covers the rest, with no tooling.
OUR PROCESSES

6 processes, from cutting to assembly

01

Fiber laser cutting

Precise and fast on thin to medium sheet, steel, stainless, aluminum.

02

Punching

Holes, repetitive shapes, local deformations (embossments, vents).

03

Plasma / oxy-fuel cutting

Heavy thickness, large formats, economical throughput.

04

Bending

Press brake: precision on thin, high tonnage on thick.

05

Assembly

Welding, screwing, riveting, self-clinching nuts, mounting.

06

Finishing

Deburring, shot blasting, painting, sub-assembly mounting.

DECISION SUPPORT

Thin sheet or thick plate?

Two trades within sheet metal work. We steer your part to the right one — neither a precision laser for 20 mm, nor oxy-fuel cutting for a thin cover.

CriterionThin sheetThick plate
Thickness~ 0.5 to 3 mm~ 3 to 30 mm (and more)
CuttingFiber laser, punchingHigh-power laser, plasma, oxy-fuel
BendingPrecision press brakeLarge-capacity press brake (high tonnage)
ApplicationsEnclosures, covers, casings, thin sheet metalPlates, frames, heavy brackets, boilermaking
Tolerancestight, aesthetic requirementwider, structure priority
Watch pointsedges, flatness, markingdistortion, cutting time, straightening
Guide: the thin/thick boundary depends mainly on the machine fleet (laser power, press-brake tonnage). CadNov chooses the workshop capable of your thickness at the best cost.
MATERIALS

All sheets, thin and thick

Thicknesses from 0.5 to 30 mm depending on the process and workshop.

Steels

DC01 (thin), S235 / S355 (structure), pickled steel.

Coated steels

Galvanized (DX51D), pre-painted — protected from the raw material.

Stainless steel

304 / 304L, 316L — food, outdoor, decoration.

Aluminum

5754, 5083, 6082 — lightness, outdoor.

Brass · Copper

Decoration, electrical, connectors.

Other?

Heavy thicknesses, special grades: depending on application.

TOLERANCES AND INSPECTION

Cutting and bending precision

  • Precise laser cutting, clean edges
  • Bending tolerances (angle and flat pattern) controlled
  • Welded-construction tolerances (EN ISO 13920)
  • Flatness controlled, especially on thin sheet

Inspection

  • Dimensional inspection, fixtures
  • First article (ISIR) on recurring parts
  • Material certificate EN 10204 3.1
  • Receiving in France before delivery

Which surface protection / finish?

To anticipate: on thin sheet, hot-dip galvanizing can distort — we prefer zinc plating or pre-coated sheet. Each deposit adds thickness: anticipate on tight fits.
DESIGN TIPS

Cut cost from the drawing

Bend radius

A radius ≥ thickness avoids cracks and marks.

Minimum distances

Respect edge/bend/hole: otherwise distortion during bending.

Bend order

Check tool accessibility (collisions).

Inserts rather than tapping

On thin sheet, prefer self-clinching nuts.

Optimize the blank

Nesting reduces scrap: a big cost item in sheet metal.

Realistic tolerances

Don't demand machining tolerances on bent parts.

INSPECTION AND ESG APPROACH

Inspected in France, committed ESG approach

Today, our guarantee rests on inspecting parts in France before delivery. In parallel, CadNov is gradually rolling out ESG criteria at its partners, starting with the low-cost supply chain.

Inspection in France

Receipt and check of parts in France before shipping. Real and verifiable.

Workshop selection

Technical qualification, capacity, quality: known, monitored partners.

ESG being rolled out

Environmental and social criteria being integrated — an approach, not an acquired label.

SERIES

From prototype to series

  • One-off part, prototype, small and medium series
  • Ready-to-mount sub-assemblies
  • Framework agreements for recurring parts
  • Scheduled deliveries, stock on forecast
Beyond a certain volume with a hollow shape, stamping (with a tool) becomes more economical. We tell you straight.
