Your welded assemblies and structures,
from cutting to the finished part
Frames, chassis, brackets, structures — cutting, forming, welded assembly and machining rework. A single point of contact, a network of workshops qualified and controlled in France, from the one-off part to the recurring series.

A welded assembly hinges on distortion and weld quality
Welding distorts and creates stresses. A non-conforming weld, a warped frame, a bearing surface that moves after machining: all costly scrap. The right workshop, the right preparation and the right welding sequence make the difference. CadNov steers.
Distortion control
Clamping, welding sequence, stress-relieving before machining.
Weld quality
Qualified welders and procedures, non-destructive testing.
Compliance
EN 1090 / ISO 3834 depending on the structure's criticality.
One contact
A project manager, from sheet metal to the finished assembly.
Integrator: the complete assembly, welding and machining included
CadNov does not weld in-house — we are your integrator: sourcing of qualified workshops, distortion control, coordination of machining rework and treatments, inspection in France.
- Welded-design advice (accessibility, symmetry, distortion)
- Sourcing of qualified workshops (ISO 3834 / EN 1090 per requirement)
- Coordination of stress-relieving then machining rework of bearing surfaces
- Non-destructive testing (NDT) to the required level
- Coordinated surface treatments and painting
- Receiving inspection in France, traceability, reports
6 steps, from material to assembly
Cutting
Laser, plasma, oxy-fuel, shearing — sheets, tubes, profiles.
Forming / bending
Bending, rolling, tube bending of the elements before assembly.
Welded assembly
MIG-MAG, TIG, robotic welding depending on series and material.
Straightening / stress-relieving
Control of distortion and residual stresses.
Machining rework
Bearing surfaces, bores and precise dimensions machined after welding.
Finishing
Grinding, shot blasting, painting, sub-assembly mounting.

Welding must be proven
Depending on your part's criticality (load-bearing structure, pressure, safety), we source workshops at the required qualification level.
EN ISO 3834
Quality requirements for fusion welding.
EN 1090
CE marking of steel / aluminum structures (mandatory for load-bearing).
Qualified welders
EN ISO 9606 qualification by process and position.
WPS / WPQR
Qualified welding procedures.
NDT
Dye penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography, ultrasonics.
Traceability
Material certificates, inspection reports, welding file.
Weldable steels, stainless and aluminum:
Structural steels
S235, S355 — frames, chassis, brackets.
HSLA steels
S500MC and above for structural weight reduction.
Stainless steel
304 / 304L, 316L — food, chemicals, decoration.
Aluminum
Weldable grades 5083, 6060, 6082 — lightness.
Formats
Sheets, flats, tubes, profiles, machined welded assemblies.
Other?
Special steels, heavy thicknesses: depending on application.
From general welding to precise machining
- Welded-construction tolerances (EN ISO 13920)
- Precise dimensions guaranteed by machining rework after stress-relieving
- Flatness and geometry controlled
- Large dimensions and heavy thicknesses
Inspection
- Dimensional inspection (arm / CMM), fixtures
- Weld NDT to the required level
- Material certificate EN 10204 3.1, manufacturing file
- Receiving in France before delivery
Which heat treatment after welding?
In welded assembly, the subject is not hardness but the control of stresses and distortion. CadNov defines the treatment depending on the part.
| Goal | Treatment | Materials | Guide value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reduce residual stresses / stabilize before machining | Stress-relieving (stress-relief temper) | S235, S355, HSLA | ~ 550–650 °C |
| Homogenize the structure after welding / forming | Normalizing | structural steels | refines the grain |
| Soften an affected zone | Annealing | alloy steels | case by case |
| Welded stainless: restore corrosion resistance | Pickling + passivation (no hardening heat treatment) | 304 / 316L stainless | treats the welded zone |
Which surface protection?
| Need | Solution | Substrate | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durable corrosion protection (outdoor, structural) | Shot blasting + hot-dip galvanizing | steel | very protective; possible distortion during dipping |
| Corrosion protection + appearance | Shot blasting + paint / powder coating | steel | system per environment (ACQPA) |
| Large parts without a bath | Zinc / aluminum metallization (spraying) | steel | alternative to hot-dip galvanizing |
| Welded stainless | Pickling + passivation | stainless | removes weld coloring and oxides |
| Preparation before painting | Sandblasting / shot blasting (Sa 2.5) | steel | adhesion essential |
Design for welding to cut cost and distortion
Accessible welds
An inaccessible bead is expensive or becomes unfeasible.
Symmetry
Symmetrical welds limit warping.
Machining allowance
Allow extra material on the bearing surfaces to be reworked.
Limit the beads
Less welding = less distortion and cost.
Realistic tolerances
Don't demand machining tolerances on raw welds.
Right inspection level
Radiographic NDT everywhere is costly: target the critical beads.
